She loved that windy day. Happiness is the feeling of the wind making love to her hair, she thought. She made a wish and chucked her cares in the wind. At Gahirmatha Beach, a huge number of Olive Ridley turtles had turned up on the coasts of Odisha. There were thousands that gusty morning, when she was walking along the beach. It was a sight she wasn’t going to forget in a hurry. A magical sight. Sea turtles matter as they help to maintain coral reefs and sea grass beds . She drapes herself in maroon as Odisha primarily has a veneer of red soils due to the presence of iron oxide. The state is also known for its handloom textiles made in earthen colours maroons, browns, cream, rust. The Mul she wears is a softness that drapes a strength within.

The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!
